Although it was a difficult decision for her to make, my mother was diagnosed with a chronic illness that would have quite possibly cause her death during child birth.  She made a responsible decision to have an abortion since I could have been orphaned otherwise. We also did not have very much money living off her disability insurance and no other income, so it would have been very difficult to raise another child.
